Early Education and Intervention

Our goal is to provide children with educational and developmental support that lay a foundation for life-long learning. We will assist them with reaching their maximum learning potential.

Early Childhood Education

We provide safe and developmentally enriching caregiving and education that promotes the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of infants, toddlers and preschoolers, and prepares them for future growth and development. Hours of operation are Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–6:00 pm. Extended child care hours are available. We offer Early Head Start and Preschool.

Early Intervention

Our goal is to provide children age six months to three years with therapeutic developmental support that mitigate social emotional, cognitive, and physical challenges that negatively impacts a child's ability to reach developmental milestones. This service helps children achieve skills in a typical developmental order; assists children in the areas of physical skills, cognitive development, communication, social/emotional skills, and adaptive skills; helps families learn to manage challenging behaviors and provides developmentally appropriate suggestions for rules and routines.

Early Head Start Child Care Partnership Program

Through our 5-year partnership with CCR&R, we have two well-equipped Early Head Start sites open that serve low income families. We have a site in Kankakee, a site inside Lorenzo Smith School in Pembroke, and our third site is scheduled to open this fall in Aroma Park. This program is designed to serve low income families in Kankakee County by providing quality childcare to infants and toddlers (6 weeks - 3 years), enhanced education curriculum taught by qualified teachers, and family support services. This comprehensive program targets the neediest families and provides them with support needed to ensure that children are prepared for school and families are moved towards self-sufficiency and out of poverty. Additional services include access to health care, access to mental health services, access to employment assistance, free meals during school hours, free diapers and wipes during school hours, transportation support, and comprehensive family support through parent engagement and training.
