In 1970, Reverend Jordan and his wife, Doris, left Chicago in order to purchase a 49 acre farm located in Momence, Il. They purchased the farm in order to provide a safe haven for homeless children. Over the years, they became foster and adoptive parents to orphaned children and helped hundreds of families by providing them food, clothing and shelter. From their vision, in 1995 the Garden of Prayer Youth Center was created as a comprehensive child welfare agency.
